Article Review: UTILIZATION OF STRAWBERRY LEAVES (Fragaria X ananassa A.N. Duch) IN COSMETIC PREPARATION FORMULATION
Abstract
Strawberry leaves contain flavonoid compounds, tannins, hydroxy benzoic acid and hydroxy cinnamic acid, which can be used as basic ingredients of cosmetics. The purpose of this study was to review the literature on the utilization of strawberry leaves (Fragaria x ananassa A.N. Duch) in Indonesia. A systematic search on Google Scholar was conducted to identify relevant articles on products, dosage forms, and cosmetic benefits of strawberry leaves. From the search results, three journals were found that met the criteria with a variety of different dosage forms. Although each product has a different type of preparation, the efficacy is almost the same, namely as an antioxidant and antibacterial. However, from this review, it can be concluded that the number of articles discussing cosmetic products made from strawberry leaves is still limited.
